Bank Mandiri Museum located near Jakarta Kota Station continues to grow as an educational and historical tourist destination in Jakarta. Since its establishment as a museum, it has attracted a wide range of visitors, from students to families seeking historical insight and cultural exploration.
Ica, as the PR and Marketing of The Independent Museum, revealed that this museum presents a variety of unique attractions. Museum Mandiri used to be a Dutch trading company called Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij (NHM), which was founded in 1929 and inaugurated on January 14, 1933.
This building houses various items that reflect the life of Dutch workers in the colonial period. “Interesting items, one of which is stained glass depicting the four seasons in Europe as well as a medicine to eliminate the longing of the Dutch for their hometown,” said Ica to RRI at the location, Wednesday (6/11/2024).
Other iconic collections in the museum include a “ledger” containing old financial records, including debits and credits from sugar plantations that were once NHM’s main commodities. Before becoming a bank, this building housed a plantation.
The Bank Mandiri Museum has several interesting exhibition spaces, including the recently completed History Room which makes it a place with a newer and different feel from this place. Furthermore, there is a transformation room that shows the digital development of Bank Mandiri and a banking hall room that displays the atmosphere of a teller in the old days.
On the ground floor there are various historical archives and save deposit boxes in the safe room. There is a new room, namely the Bank Mandiri Architectural Heritage Room to review the construction techniques and architectural foundations of the building.
The Museum is also a favorite place to host various events. Such as art exhibitions and fashion shows, using spaces that can be rented by the general public.
“We have a lot of room spots that can be rented or for exhibitions, we happen to have a banking hall that is often used for exhibitions, fashion shows for run awaynya and a lot of music events can also be here. Then we also have rooms that are open, if you want a more private we can also yes, ” he said.

Over time, the Bank Mandiri Museum, which originated from the NHM trading company, is now increasingly continuing to innovate to keep up with technological developments. From the calculator era, this bank then presented ATMs and has now adapted to m-banking services.
Bank Mandiri Museum also innovated by introducing the use of digital TV in the exhibition hall to explain the various arts displayed. Creating a more interactive and modern visiting experience.
The Bank Mandiri Museum remains a living symbol of history, reflecting the long journey from a trading company to the latest digital innovations that connect the past with the future. The Museum continues to maintain its entire collection on a daily basis with the help of a cleaning team tasked with cleaning areas such as floor tiles, glass, and the ceiling of the building.
On weekdays (weekday), the main visitors are students who come to complete their schoolwork. On weekends, the museum is more visited by families.
